Technological Transformation: The Success of Banking Modernization

Services: Audio and Video, Automation, Videoconferencing, Audioconferencing and Lighting Control

At the corporate headquarters of one of the country's leading banks, we completed the renovation of the main boardroom, one of the most complex projects we have undertaken to date due to its technical and aesthetic requirements. The solutions implemented in this room include audio, video, automation, videoconferencing, audioconferencing, lighting control, climate control, and blinds, all based on current international standards.

The project consists of a custom-built central table specifically designed for videoconferencing. It features twelve 21.5” monitors and a videoconferencing camera, both motorized and pop up onto the table surface as soon as they are activated via the control screen. There are also twelve microphones for each participant and four connection interfaces. In addition, there are two fixed 90” monitors on either side of the room for support, and a 133” tensioned electric screen that, along with the laser projector, descends from the ceiling.

At first glance, the boardroom only has a window that allows natural light in, and the central table is raised to conceal any equipment. However, this is precisely where we applied our technology.

VIDEO

A digital video matrix switcher controls all the video in the room, which comes from four PC connections on the table, a wireless video receiver (for laptops or mobile devices), a local rack PC, and a codec. Videoconferencing; any of these can be routed to the 12 monitors on the central table, the projector, and two 90” monitors on either side of the room.

AUDIO

The audio matrix handles acoustic echo cancellation of the microphones during video or audio conferences, signal routing, equalization, compression, softphone processing, and ambient noise reduction and filtering. The speakers are concealed within the wall coverings, with eight speakers recessed around the entire room.

CLIMATE, LIGHTING, AND BLINDS

A central control processor manages room usage, automatically adjusting the room's ambiance accordingly; that is, lighting and air conditioning settings. For example, when the projector is in use, the general lighting dims, while the table lights remain brighter. Likewise, during videoconferences, the lights illuminating the participants increase to improve facial visibility on camera. The climate control system adjusts according to the time of year and the room's occupancy level. When the room is not in use, the motors remain off.

CONTROL

The aforementioned control processor intuitively integrates all audio, video, lighting, and climate control systems.

The main challenge of this project was carefully coordinating the table design with the planned systems. Therefore, the carpentry team from the architectural firm in charge and our engineers had to maintain constant communication to achieve our objectives.

The main design focus is on the monitors, as they require sufficient space to allow for the free movement of the lifts and to accommodate the tilt of each monitor once they are deployed. The microphones are distributed around the table to ensure they can accurately capture the voice of everyone in the room.

The table's design also took into account the space required for the racks, as two had to be installed inside, one on each side, each with its own cooling system connected to the building's central compressor.

LIGHTING CONTROL

The 133” screen extends down over the window, so we used a blackout curtain and blinds to completely block natural light and improve visibility. Simultaneously, the projector descends from the ceiling to the center of the room to display the image.

When designing each system, we considered the client's requirements as well as the technical capabilities for integration. To connect all the installed equipment, we created a local network within the table, thus avoiding interference with the corporate network. This allowed us to achieve optimal signal response with the applied technology. The system as a whole meets the aesthetic and technological requirements according to the firm's international standards, guaranteeing the client functionality, efficiency, and peace of mind during every meeting.

SECOND PHASE

Four additional cameras were added so that the videoconferencing system can focus on the person or people speaking at any given moment, regardless of their position at the table.
